The Unseen Realm Part 1

What if the Bible has always been inviting us into a far stranger and more magnificent reality than we ever allowed ourselves to consider? This session pulls back the curtain on a cosmos that Scripture takes for granted but that modern Western Christians have largely trained themselves to overlook. We explore the biblical concept of an unseen realm, not as poetry or metaphor, but as a genuine dimension of creation that exists alongside the physical world we can measure and touch. Drawing on passages from Ephesians, Colossians, Daniel, Job, and the Psalms, we are confronted with a universe populated by heavenly councils, spiritual authorities, cosmic powers, and beings whose existence the biblical authors never felt the need to justify or explain. They simply assumed it. The central challenge this raises for us is whether our skepticism about the supernatural is actually rooted in Scripture or whether it is the product of a relatively recent cultural moment called the Enlightenment. When we recognize that our faith is already deeply supernatural, from the virgin birth to the bodily resurrection to the ascension, we begin to see that dismissing the unseen realm requires us to dismiss far more than we bargained for. This is an invitation to hold our worldview more loosely and to trade the need for tidy explanations for something far more useful: discernment.
